Travelling Abroad? How to Leave Your Small Dog in Phuket with Peace of Mind
By Pear, Pear's Pawsh ·

If you live in Phuket and are travelling abroad — a trip home, a holiday, work or a visa run — the simplest way to leave a small dog is a boarding place you trust, booked well ahead. At Pear's Pawsh we look after dogs up to 15 kg for daily, weekly or monthly stays, from ฿350 per day, with daily photo updates on LINE and pickup anywhere in Phuket. Here is how to plan it step by step.
Your options
- Friends or neighbours — fine for a weekend, harder for weeks. Make sure they can really commit to twice-daily care.
- A pet sitter at home — good for dogs who don't like other dogs, but your dog is alone most of the day.
- Boarding — someone with your dog around the clock, routine and company. For small, social dogs, cage-free boarding is the closest thing to home.

When to book
Book as soon as your flights are fixed. School holidays and the December–January high season fill up fastest. Our New Year season (20 Dec 2026 – 20 Jan 2027) is advance-booking only, so last-minute requests in that period can't be accepted.

Budgeting a longer stay
Boarding is priced per day by weight. Here are some example totals for boarding only:
| Your dog | 10 days | 21 days | 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–4 kg | ฿3,500 | ฿7,350 | ฿10,500 |
| 4.1–10 kg | ฿4,000 | ฿8,400 | ฿12,000 |
| 10.1–15 kg | ฿4,500 | ฿9,450 | ฿13,500 |
Days over New Year are ฿500 for dogs up to 10 kg. Add the ฿500 refundable deposit per dog, any extras, and pickup if you need it. For long stays, ask on LINE.

Prepare your dog's paperwork
- Vaccinations complete and valid for the whole stay — check expiry dates against your return date, not your departure date. Bring the vaccination book on check-in day, or send photos in advance.
- A photo of your ID card or passport, which we need to register every booking before check-in.
- Tick and flea treatment and deworming given before check-in and recorded in the book (both are required), with the next doses packed if they fall during your trip.
- Your vet's name and number, plus any recent medical notes.
Pack for the whole trip
- Enough of your dog's usual food for every day you're away, plus a few days extra in case flights change. Raw/BARF diets are welcome — we have a fridge.
- Medication with written instructions and enough for the full stay.
- Pee pads and belly bands/diapers for the whole stay — usually 2–3 a day. Boys and dogs not reliably toilet-trained must wear one indoors.
- A few treats or the wet food your dog usually eats, in case stress puts them off their main meal.
- Optional: a blanket or T-shirt that smells like you, and a favourite toy.
- Harness and leash with an ID tag.
Leave clear instructions
An emergency contact in Thailand
Time zones and roaming can make you hard to reach. Give us a trusted local contact who can make decisions if we can't reach you. Please make sure one of you can always be contacted — an owner who can't be reached at all is treated like an abandoned dog under our terms.
Vet decisions
Tell us how you'd like us to handle a vet visit — for example, call you first unless it's urgent. In an emergency we take dogs to a 24-hour clinic; the vet visit trip is an extra service and vet fees are separate.
If your return date changes
Flights get delayed. Just message us on LINE and we'll extend the stay if there's space.
Staying in touch
Every dog gets photo updates on LINE every day, so you can see them napping, playing in the yard or getting cuddles from wherever you are. If you want to know something specific — how they ate, how they slept — just ask on LINE.
Departure and return days
- Book pickup for the day before you fly, or the morning of an evening flight — it keeps travel day calm.
- Hand over food, medication and the vaccination book.
- Keep the goodbye short and cheerful.
- When you're back, we drop your dog home within 09:00–18:00, or you collect them yourself. Off-hours handovers cost ฿50 per hour per dog.
